Question:
Why do some people fail the CAHSEE five times or more?

I took the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Examination) in February, and I'm still waiting for my results. I believe that I tested fairly well on the English portion, but I'm not so confident about how I did on the math section.

A lot of people have told me that "no one fails the CAHSEE" and that "it's so easy a smart sixth-grader could do it", but why are there people who say that they have taken the test more than five times and still haven't passed?

This makes me extremely nervous and a bit scared. The passing score for math is 55% and the English is 60%. That's basically a 'D' and an 'F'! How could people fail even with such low passing scores?

Sorry for the rant, but I'm just really worried. I know I have multiple chances to take it, but I really want to get this over with and look forward to graduating.

LOL. I know how you feel! I'm a Junior and the first time that I took the CAHSEE last year, I passed the English part but not the Math part. So I took the Math part again and I didn't pass it in November. So then I took it again in February and now I'm really nervous because I just want to finish it! Hopefully I did pass the 350 or at least get like 355 or something which I know I did. Math is so hard for me its not funny! Idk how I'm going to be in college with my poor math skills but I just hate math! I hate it!

Anyways. Hopefully you did pass it! If not, they still give you more chances. Hey, I took the CAHSEE 2 times because I failed the math part. I scored 329/350 the first time I took it in 10th grade, then I got 335/350 last year in November the second time I took it. So hopefully I scored higher! xD

Good Luck! :DD

Well if you got most of the stuff your most likely good.

really no one fails the CAHSEE its just too easy to fail if you are an average student you definately passed. and if your at or higher than Algebra 1 your ok.

I took it and i think even if you guessed B's on all the Qs you would've passed.

even if you get a 55% in math you pass but it does count for college so it would be a good idea to pass with a fairly good percentage.

if they haven't pased.... well.. they must not care enough to listen in class.

78% of students with a D average grade pass so i'm pretty sure your ok.

Don't think about it too much. I know that thinking about your future is a bit overwhelming, especially at your age, but there's absolutely no point in feeling scared or insecure. You can't change the past, so look forward what the future has in store for you.

Good luck, I wish you all the best!!!

If they don't care, and don't want their time wasted, then they don't try. Normally that's the case. Or English as a Second Language(ESL) learners may not do great because it's a second language.

Perhaps the reason some people fail the test more than five times is that they are complete idiots. By the looks of your grammar, you did fine on the test. I wouldn't worry about it. Who knows? Maybe you passed! If you didn't, do not fret. You have a million chances to take the CAHSEE, and, as you said, the test has very low passing scores.

Don't think about it too much!
