SAT prep courses are offered a week before school starts. Do you usually take this course before your junior year, before you even took an SAT. Or do you usually take it before your senior year because wouldn't you not take the SATs anymore if you were satisfied with your previous scores? I'm kind of confused on when is the right time to take it. I am entering my junior year in high school.

Hi Ricky,

In my classes I get a 50/50 mix of students: half have never taken the SAT and want to be prepared the first time and half have taken the test, are upset about their scores, and are prepping for their second attempt.

It's really up to you on how you should approach it. I recommend taking the free practice test at collegeboard.com under timed conditions and seeing where your strengths and weaknesses are. You'll have a good idea about when to take the course once you complete a practice test.

Good luck!

Take the SAT at the end of your Junior year. That will give you practice. If you do not score as high as you like take a prep course in the summer between Jr and Sr. Then take your final SAT in the fall of your Sr. year. Good luck!
