The tests really don't change too much from year to year, but The Princeton Review puts out a pretty good test prep book each year. I also recommend the test prep books that the actual testing organizations put out, The Official Guide to the SAT and The Real ACT Prep Guide.

With regards to the ACT, the company puts out some of the most recent and OFFICIAL information and practice tests. Their book and practice test is updated every other year.
In terms of preparation, I would say your best bet would be to first take the free OFFICIAL (not Kaplan or Princeton practice tests) practice test up on the act company's website (see sources below for link). The only real way to know what you need to focus on is to start with a real test. After that it is really up to you to concentrate on the areas you need to build up.
I work for a small test prep company that specializes in ACT prep and this is how we start off all our students. There are many products out there that can help you including the "Real ACT" book from the company. Problem is that the book doesn't include sneaky strategies. We have a good blog post of some of the best products that you might want to check out (see link below).
