When I took mine, which was only a year or so ago, I focused mainly on my math skills (Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2) and timed myself when completing practice tests. I'd suggest purchasing a booklet with ACT practice tests in it and setting aside time every day to study. However, in the week or so beforehand, even if you REEEAALLY want to, don't cram for it. I ended up getting a slightly above average score on mine (which isn't that bad for me considering I'm mathematically challenged) and that the ACT is much more math-based than the SAT. If you're not that great at math in general, I'd suggest taking the SAT, too, since colleges usually accept either score; also, that extra studying would help you on the math section of the SAT as well. Hope this helped! Good luck!
