What grade would you consider to be a "failing" grade?

the term "failing" can be subjective or objective, depending on how you look at it . . . so, i'm asking, subjectively, what do you consider a "failing" grade?

80%?
70%?
60%?
<50%?

For me personally, it's anything below 80% - the grading system at my high school is different than most schools, and an 80% is a C. I'm used to receiving mostly A's (high B's in math), so anything that's a C or below is "failing" to me.

For most people I know, "failing" is 75-70% and below.

Oh, in case you were wondering - my school's grading system:

A 100-93%

B 92-85%

C 84-77%

D 76-69%

and, for some reason, I've never seen E's given out... but I'm guessing that 69-67% would be an E, since 65% and below is an F.

60% In all honesty 70 but that is considered average

My kids all had 4.0 during the whole time they were in school

we were very poor and education was paramount. I always was on top of them and tried to help them in any way I could

In this day and age you need to be more than average I don't know how old you are but I hold your parents accountable for failing grades It ids a parents duty to help any kid reach its fullest potential Or Why the h--- Did you have them in the first place As they get older they become more accountable but if no one gave them the help to begin with then how do they expect success! I hope you are at least 70%

Well, some people are just below average in some things. I think it depends on the person really. Like, some people have trouble in math, so I would consider less than 50% in math to be failing (For that person While they are goo in reading I might consider below 70% to be failing. It depends on what the person is capable of.

Im 39 years old and when I was in school anything below a 70 was considered "failing". So thats what I go by.

In our school 85% is the passing average grade. Anything lower than that and you get kicked out. Sucks, really.

But in my standards anything lower than 70% is failing. Of course that depends on the grading system of school.
My love is on your side ♥

in my school a 70% and below is an F. And you fail the class with a D.

Definitely anything under 60% would be failing in my eyes. A D is not failing, but it's not passing either.

I think below 70 is failing, but I believe the report cards say it's 74 or less.

Well for me it's below 70% but I am not happy with 80% or under. For my final average, if I get under 85% I'm going to be very upset!

Depends. For me there are two situations.

On a test anything below a 75 in failing to me.

For a final average, anything below an 80.

That's just how I rate myself though.

I consider failing 74 percent and under. When a student only understands 60 percent of material they are just cheating themselves. But in the USA the education system is so messed up they cannot make it 75 percent because that would mean twice as many ppl would fail. Every year more than a million students drop out of highschool. SCARY!!!

When I fall below what I expect. If I give it my all and I know I did...no grade is failing. But if I know I didn't really try or study, I failed.

50 and below is truly failing, but if you're getting 60 or below you're close to failing and should pull up your socks a bit :)

anonymous

An F. If you can go to the next class, then you may have a bad grade, but your not failing. I consider failing only if you can't take the next class up.

Any score that would keep someone from moving up in school. So I guess that might be anything below a 60%

If you are a Harvard student, 70 means failed.

From a college perspective, anything below a C cannot be used as credit when applying for college. Even a C- is unacceptable.

Depends on the person's leaning ability.

In case you are unaware, schools are designed to fail people.

I have two son's with different learning abilities. My one son, who comes home with aD after really trying will get a "good job, and don't worry about" from me.

I would have to say a failing grade, to me, would be a 60% or below...

I consider anything below 75 pretty mediocre which is failing (in general)
don_sv_az

For school work anything below 75%

For real life in a non critical job anything below 95% is failing.

For a critical job anything below 99.99% is failing. and even then that .01% will get you in trouble.

An "F". <50%. I'm going by the options you gave. I feel I failed if I don't receive an "A".
anonymous

For me, anything under 80% is a failure; my program has very high standards. Back in high school, though, less than 50% was a failure.
anonymous
2007-11-10 20:50:05 UTC
Anything below a C.

So I would say below a 70.

It depends.

On a essay, anything below an 85%.

On a test, anything below an 80%.

On an assignment, anything below a 90%.

But these are averages. It also depends on the class.
