I was told that good universities will refuse to accept you if you have a GCSE exam resit. I'm still in year 10 and on my Biology B1,B2,B3 (I'm taking triple science so I'm also doing be doing B4,B5,B6 and a controlled assessment/course work) exam I got a B but I was only 5 marks off an A so I stupidly said I wanted a resit (The teachers apply every one for a resit, then when you get your results they ask you if you want one and then they confirm it). Will one exam resit of a module matter? Will it look bad if I fail my resit?

P.S My exam resit is scheduled for next week on Thursday and I don't think I can cancel it and some teachers say it's better off taking the resit than missing it.

So many people retake that it really doesn't matter, particularly at GCSE. Some universities dislike resits for courses such as Medicine, but very few, so you will be fine.

When you apply to university here in the UK you do have to give your transcript of grades and a personal statement, any university worth it's salt will not accept students just on academic merit but on personality and commitment to work, shown through your personal statement.

Hundreds of students take resists of exams throughout their GCSE'S and A-Levels, you can even repeat years at university should ou fail. So don't worry about it!

Take your resit, if you ever get questioned on it, just explain you knew you could do better and wanted to have another attempt, there is no shame in that!

Good luck in your exam! You will be fine :)

Your gcse's don't really matter. It's the A levels that do. Yes unis will look at gcse's but they will focus on the A levels. So don't worry and **** luck!

I doubt if they will care one jot about it, they are going to be focussed on rather more signifcant motives especially your A phases or Highers, the fine of the personal statement to your utility and your additional curricular experiences
