a level's am i able to get special consideration?

i have missed a lot of school because my brother has beening critically ill. 2 months ago he was still born and then within 15 minutes he was rivied and has been in intensive care ever since on life support. a month later he was off it and he has been left with severe brain damage. because of this i have had to take care of my mum and miss a lot of school.
the day before my psychology exam he went through 2 operations and then couldnt breath on his own. he was on life support again until monday. my exam was on the friday so he was still on life support fully. My mum now has severe depression and as far as i know i have no legal carer at the moment. she is in hospital with him 24/7.
i also had a spanish exam the following tuesday. So not only did i miss school for a month to be able to support my mother and his father, feel the strain on myself, miss school work even though would try my best to come in to do my coursework (which was for chemistry and i got the highest in the class which i am mighty proud of) but the day before my exam i had to see him on life support...
am i able to get any sort of special consideration or something so i dont get horriable grades (which i know i will get)
how does special consideration work exactly?
is there a time limit for when you can apply for it?
do i need letter from both parent and doctor?
the school examiner has not told me anything and is always too buzy to get a meeting with me so PLEASE don't just tell me to get advise from him or then i wouldn't have posted the question here if i could.

Wow - you've gone through so much. Call the number or read the application. I'm assuming you'll need to provide proof, parent and doctor. The deadline is 22ND MAY.

This website explains the guidelines for special considerations in the UK.

http://testforms.naa.org.uk/testforms/docs/2007/2007_NCTests_special_consideration_guidance.pdf

You have to complete and submit the online application form by 5pm on 22 May 2007.

There is also a phone number available. If the situation is confidential, please contact the NAA national curriculum tests helpline on 08700 60 60 40 and ask to speak to the Special consideration coordinator for a confidential discussion of the circumstances.

Oh my god! I really hope the little guy gets better soon...

You're definitely eligible for special consideration, which basically means you'll have 5% added onto whatever grade you get.

Okay, the school examiners out. Try talking to your tutor or someone at your school, anyone! If that really doesn't work, try emailing the exam board, who I'm sure will be able to help you.

All the guidelines are here:

http://www.ofqual.gov.uk/2215.aspx (Try this one first)

Then try applying online here:

There is also a phone number: contact the NAA national curriculum tests helpline on 08700 60 60 40 and ask to speak to the Special consideration coordinator.

I wish I could help you more; keep faith

The exam board WILL give you special consideration, they will look at your achieved grade and then they will decide whether or not to give consideration if you get a low grade.

And yes, they will count him being at home as consideration aswell because your family will be under immense stress.

Good luck.
