There are 2 rankings: one verbal IQ the different overall performance IQ; one hundred twenty is your regular of the two it relatively is on the sting of more suitable intelligence, nicely above regular, you would be regular for an 18 year previous. If the testing replaced into finished exact (effects nevertheless variety) however the possibility is as long as there is not any longer a extensive disparity between verbal and overall performance you may desire to bypass to a stable college and do nicely in case you artwork complicated. the conventional Ivy Leaguer is meant to be around 126.

It won't translate since the test he took was normed on 4th graders, not 2nd graders. You may be able to estimate what his score would be on the test normed for 2nd graders though. What I can tell you is that a score of 129 is considerably high, in fact it's right about the 97th or 98th percentile so he did better than 97% of 4th graders on whatever test he took. I suggest getting him retested, but if we use the old ratio-IQ formula (which is no longer in use) we find that a 4th grader with an IQ of 129 has a mental age of 11.61 assuming the average fourth grader is 9 years old.
I'll show you how I derived this:
IQ = 100(ma/ca)
129 = 100(ma/9)
129/100 = ma/9
1.29 = ma/9
9(1.29) = 9(ma/9)
ma = 9(1.29) = 11.61
So, if he was being compared to 9.0 year olds (I say 9.0 because the test was probably normed on kids anywhere between the ages of 9 and 10 so I'm just using a 9 year old in the first month of his birthday; it would depend on your son's birthday), his mental age would be 11.61 and his estimated IQ would be...
IQ = 100(11.61/7) = 166
Check to see the month of his birthday and calculate a decimal value for his age for a more precise estimation, but get him retested.
